Job Summary

Build and maintain dies, molds, custom tools, and machinery. Analyzes specifications, layouts, metal stocks, sets up and operations machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and rapair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinist handtools

Job Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of operation, safety requirements, set ups, and dimension tolerance for each machine.
  • Knowledge of CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, CNC Grinders, EDM Machines, Bridgeport Style Mills, Tool room Lathes, Engine Lathes, Drill Presses, Surface Grinders, Tool Post Grinders, Drill
  • Sharpeners, Horizontal Bandsaws, Vertical Bandsaws, Belt Sanders, Bench Grinders, Tig, Arc,
  • Mig and Gas Welders
  • Knowledge of methods, operation, and tolerance of various tools including the outside blade, thread, anvil, and depth micrometers. Calipers, dial and test indicators, height gauges, optical and shadow comparators, gauge pins, and blocks, thread pitch, and whole gauges.
  • Understanding of blueprints, dimensional drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Able to recognize how tolerances interact and choose the process that will obtain the desired results
  • Create clear complete blueprints to document work or processes
  • Create tools and fixtures for simple production operations
  • Take measurements and product new components from existing components
  • Perform repairs to production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine problems with various production machines including feeds and speeds, vibration, machine wear, tool damage, tool clearance, and machine adjustment
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, material properties and stamping dies.
  • Protecting themselves and their co-workers by adhering to all company safety & health policies
  • Participating in safety program activities
  • Identifying hazards in the workplace and reporting them to their supervisors
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education: Associates degree in Engineering or a related field or
Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience or
Other: an equivalent combination of education and experience


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle, feel, talk or hear. Must be able to negotiate stairs. Reach with arms. Sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and taste or smell. Regularly lift up to 10 lbs., frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. Specific vision is close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and adjust focus.
